Given Eastern University’s premier location (15 minutes from Philadelphia and Valley Forge National Park, 2 hours from Washington, D.C., New York City, and Gettysburg), field trips to historical sites, museums, and institutions of art and culture are an integral aspect of the two five-week summer residencies. These field trips are built into the MAT curriculum because we believe in the importance of exposing teachers not only to great ideas through texts, but to pinnacle works of beauty through art, theater, music, and nature; to the truth found in scientific discovery and historical moments; and to the general richness and goodness our culture and world has to offer.
