Student Council

The Student Council is composed of five regularly elected Templeton students who serve the Templeton Honors College by managing certain vital aspects of collegiate life and contributing to the ongoing conversation about the future life of the college. Responsibilities and duties of the student council include, but are not limited to:

  • Monthly meetings with the dean of the Templeton Honors College or another faculty representative.
  • Giving reports, proposing business, and giving advice at semesterly Templeton faculty meetings.
  • Facilitating semesterly Town Hall Meetings with the Templeton student body to report and deliberate on various Templeton matters.
  • Managing student-led hospitality.
  • Establishing and steering the Service Learning Committee which reviews and governs the service learning projects.
  • Establishing and steering the Student Diaconal Council, which responds to requests for financial assistance from the Student Aid Fund, disburses resources in the Student Aid Fund, and seeks continued support for the Student Aid Fund from the Templeton student body.
  • Develops new student-led initiatives for student life within the Templeton Honors College, including the development of strategic proposals with appropriate financial projections.

Emily Matzinger – Student Council Chair

Emily Matzinger is from North Carolina and is a part of the sophomore cohort of the Templeton Honors College. She is currently studying History with a minor in Chemistry. Her other academic interests include literature, poetry, and writing. In her free time she enjoys working as a tutor, volunteering at the local hospital, reading, hiking with friends, and urban gardening.

Chris Kuz is dual-majoring in Biblical Studies and Economic Development, with the dream of being a missionary overseas. In all things, he seeks to serve Christ and love people. He enjoys spending time with friends, playing drums, racing go karts, and was born in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. While on the Student Council, Chris hopes to create community between the cohorts and to inspire his peers towards lives of informed service. Chris is also a member of the Executive Board of the Student Government Association and is a Resident Assistant.

Grace Newman – Member of the Hospitality Committee

Grace Newman is a freshman in the Templeton Honors College and serves on the hospitality committee. She lives in West Chester, Pennsylvania and graduated from Delaware County Christian School in 2016. Her plans are to study Early Childhood Education and to one day teach a 4th or 5th-grade classroom.
