Jonathan Yonan is Dean of the Templeton Honors College and Associate Professor of History at Eastern University. He earned his BA in English at Gordon College and his MSt and DPhil in Ecclesiastical History at the University of Oxford (St Cross College), where he studied under Sir Diarmaid MacCulloch. He co-edited, with Gary Jenkins, Liberal Learning and the Great Christian Traditions (Pickwick 2015). Dr. Yonan’s research has been focused on two areas: eighteenth-century religious and intellectual history and the philosophy of education. His work has appeared in The Journal of Ecclesiastical History and The Journal of Moravian History, as well as a number of edited volumes. He is currently completing a book-length project on British churchman, Christian Ignatius LaTrobe (1758-1836).

In addition to courses taught in the History Department, Dr. Yonan teaches the first-year seminar, entitled, The Good Life, taken by all Templeton students.

He and his family live in Wayne, PA.
